Forward Deployed Engineer
Why it's interesting
FDE escapes the usual sales-adjacent orbit and lands inside Trust & Safety. Cinder (Accel + YC) sells the command center that the world's largest platforms use to write policy, deploy anti-abuse agents in real time, and file NCMEC reports — and its FDEs embed with customers' T&S, engineering, and policy teams as implementer *and* strategic advisor. Explicitly not a quota-carrying role. A rare mission-heavy FDE for engineers who'd rather fight fraud and abuse at platform scale than wire up another dashboard.
The role
Forward Deployed Engineer at Cinder, embedding directly inside strategic enterprise customers' ecosystems — working alongside their Trust & Safety, engineering, and policy teams to deploy Cinder and measurably improve internet-safety outcomes. Acts as both technical implementer and strategic advisor: diagnosing customer safety problems, addressing last-mile development (bugs, missing features), handing off larger work to product/engineering, and triaging feedback with Customer Success. Cinder's platform lets customers write and enforce policy, deploy AI agents against abuse in real time, investigate threats, and file NCMEC reports. Backed by Accel and Y Combinator; NYC-based, hybrid, with relocation for the right person. Verified live on Cinder's own Ashby careers page.
