Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (D.C. Area)
Why it's interesting
A DoD-born agentic-AI startup (partnered with Palantir, Nvidia, HPE, Oracle) hiring an FDE to sit inside classified spaces 80–100% of the week and ship 'app packs' on its platform — explicitly 'not a traditional product or platform engineering role.' It's the Palantir FDE playbook run by Palantir's own partners: TS/SCI + SCI eligibility, US citizens only, $160K–$200K. The tell is the clearance gate — the fastest-growing FDE frontier isn't the AI labs, it's cleared defense work where the deployment literally can't happen remotely.
The role
Senior Forward Deployed Engineer at Legion Intelligence (born from a Department of Defense partnership; collaborators include Palantir, Nvidia, HPE, Oracle), embedded 80–100% with federal/national-security customers in classified or constrained environments in the D.C. area. Works directly with end users to design and build custom workflows and 'app packs' on top of Legion's agentic AI platform, rapidly prototyping and iterating in the field, translating ambiguous mission needs into shipped systems, and acting as a feedback loop into product/engineering. Integrates with enterprise systems (O365, Palantir Foundry, Databricks, ServiceNow, Atlassian) and builds lightweight UI in Node/Next.js/React. Requires 4+ years FDE/solutions-engineering experience, Python + JS/TS, an ACTIVE Top Secret (TS) clearance + SCI eligibility, and US citizenship (government contract requirement). Verified live on Legion's own Greenhouse careers board.
