Matta
Forward Deployed Engineer
Why it's interesting
A rare London FDE seat where 'forward deployed' means literally on the factory floor — installing vision-based inspection AI in under 24 hours against an industry standard of ~6 months, debugging static interference and lighting rigs one week, working trade-show booths the next. Embodied-AI deployment for engineers who'd rather ship on a Haribo line than a SaaS dashboard.
The role
Full-stack, full-customer-journey FDE at Matta, a London startup building manufacturing foundation models and an AI 'operating system' for factories. You own the whole arc: qualifying leads and scoping problems, deploying Matta's software and hardware on customer factory floors (Haribo one day, aerospace the next), then fixing what breaks and feeding it back to the backend, frontend, and research teams. No playbook — you shape how Matta scales deployments across the UK, Europe, and the US, with ~10–20% travel. Team drawn from Google X, Microsoft, MIT, Cambridge, and Imperial.
