OpenAI is cloning its FDE org by vertical, not just by geo: this is a dedicated Legal seat alongside brand-new Healthcare and Semiconductor reqs — the same org-chart move Anthropic made two weeks ago, now visible at the other frontier lab too. Published band ($185K–$300K) is real money for embedding with law firms.
The role
Embed with legal teams to identify high-value use cases, rapidly prototype, and prove measurable value — own discovery through production adoption, contribute code when needed, and build reusable playbooks for scaling the legal vertical. Wants 5+ years of software/ML engineering or technical deployment experience in a regulated industry, production-grade full-stack coding, LLM deployment experience (evals, guardrails), and comfort communicating across engineering, product, risk, compliance, and execs. Legal-tech background preferred, not required. Hybrid, 3 days/week in SF or NYC.
