Twilio
Forward Deployed Engineer
Why it's interesting
Twilio's FDE writes production Python/TypeScript/Node directly inside customer codebases and runs 'builder hackathons' at flagship accounts — a public infra company treating forward deployment as a growth motion, not a support function. Fully remote, still rare for the role. The JD is refreshingly blunt: a 'hands-on contributor alongside customer engineers, not just an advisor.'
The role
Forward Deployed Engineer on Twilio's GTM Innovation team, owning technical delivery of the Solution Acceleration Program: embed alongside customer engineers to ship their first low-risk production use case, write and ship production code (Python, TypeScript, Node) in customer codebases with real error handling, observability and test coverage, and build reusable reference implementations, SDKs and sample repos that scale adoption across accounts. Also leads high-energy customer hackathons and builder-activation events at flagship/target Direct accounts. 5+ years shipping production code required. Remote (US). Verified on Twilio's own careers site.
Applications go directly to the company. We curate; we don't broker.
