Unity
Principal Forward Deployed Engineer
Why it's interesting
The board's first *internal* FDE: Unity isn't deploying to customers — it's embedding an engineer inside its own Finance, Legal, Marketing, and Ops teams to replace manual work with agents, at $228K–$342K employer-provided. The title escaping GTM and turning inward is the signal to watch.
The role
Sit inside Engineering but spend most of your time embedded with partner functions — Finance, Legal, Marketing, People, Operations — learning how the work actually gets done and building agents, integrations, and automations to make it run faster and with less manual effort. Write production code, design and deploy agents, and partner with people who don't think like engineers. San Francisco; $228K–$342K employer-provided. Verified live on Unity's own careers site.
