Why it's interesting
The FDE role just grew an entry rung. Wipro (230K employees) is hiring “Junior FDEs” straight out of school at $68,420–$78,950, with a published ladder: Junior FDE → FDE → Senior/Architect. The frontier-lab version of this title clears $400K+; the services version starts at a sixth of that. Same two words, ~6x comp spread — the clearest sign yet that “FDE” has split into two separate labor markets.
The role
Early-career, customer-facing role deploying and configuring applied-AI and platform solutions inside enterprise client environments — support LLM/RAG integrations, prompt config, embeddings and vector search, plus testing and troubleshooting under senior FDEs. Requires a CS/Engineering degree, 3.0+ GPA, 0–2 yrs, and Python/JavaScript/Java with cloud basics (AWS/Azure/GCP). Published career path to Senior FDE/Architect. Comp $68,420–$78,950.
