What they do
Roboflow is the computer-vision platform: tooling to label data, train and deploy detection and segmentation models, plus a large open-source and community footprint. It raised a $40M Series B, so it is a funded growth-stage company rather than a lab or a public vendor.
What “forward deployed” means here
The posting is for customers deploying vision models into production, which in practice means camera pipelines, edge hardware, latency budgets and messy real-world data rather than chat agents. The catch is the department: it is listed under GTM, so the first interview question is whether you carry a number and whether you stay past go-live.
Comp & leveling
The $180K–$250K base comes from a recruiter post and aggregators; the employer's own Ashby page says only competitive salary and equity, so treat the band as unconfirmed. If real, it is top-of-market for a non-lab FDE, though Series B equity is a lottery ticket you should price low.
Growth signals
Vision is a less crowded AI lane than LLM agents, and open-source adoption gives Roboflow top-of-funnel that most startups pay for. The risk is that foundation vision models commoditize the training layer, so the FDE seat is probably where the durable enterprise revenue gets proven.
