Our take
Why SalesPatriot (YC W25)
A 15–20 person YC defense-supply-chain startup where the FDE lives at distributor sites all week — low cash, real equity, and the most hands-on seat on the board.

A good fit if you're…
- New grads and early-career full-stack engineers who want a shipped-in-production apprenticeship
- People who like sitting with procurement and sales-ops teams and fixing ugly workflows
- US citizens or visa holders willing to relocate to San Francisco and travel weekly
What they do
SalesPatriot builds software for the defense supply chain, with automations configured in its SP Studio product. The board notes seven-figure ARR at a company of roughly 15–20 people, which is real traction for a W25 YC startup.
What “forward deployed” means here
Literal: weekdays embedded at customer companies, with distributors in Wisconsin, New York, Miami and Los Angeles named in the posting. You find where sales and supply-chain processes stall, configure automations, and own implementations under a Lead FDE, so expect a lot of procurement-team empathy and TypeScript/React plus Postgres work rather than model research.
Comp & leveling
The posted band is $100K–$135K plus 0.05–0.10% equity, modest cash against Bay Area cost of living and weekly travel. The equity is the point: 5–10 bps at this size is a meaningful stake if the company compounds, and worth nothing if it doesn't.
Growth signals
The company is hiring FDEs open to new grads, which suggests deployment capacity, not engineering headcount, is its bottleneck. Defense procurement tailwinds help, but we have not verified funding figures, so treat durability as a diligence question.
